FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Is China importing much from abroad?

China is buying a lot more from the U.S. than it did just a short while ago, and it is likely to buy significantly more in the future as its booming economy grows. Since China joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001, for instance, U.S. exports to China - the second-largest economy in the world - have increased by 190%, making it America's fourth-largest export market, according to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (and if U.S. exports to Hong Kong are included, then China is our third-largest export market). The rate of increase in U.S. sales to China has been 12 times higher than the growth of American exports to other countries during the same period, according to the U.S. Commerce Dept. Indeed, Chinese consumers like foreign brands. And as incomes continue to rise, more Chinese consumers will seek foreign-made goods (China and the US: The Ties That Bind, BusinessWeek, July ’07).

Why should I consider importing products from China?

China has been manufacturing products for the US and the rest of the world for many years now and is considered to be “connected at the hip” with the US being its very largest export partner by far. This relationship will become even stronger over time and will yield very good benefits for US importers of Chinese goods. The pricing points will continue to improve and so will the quality. Surely US firms will continue to benefit from this relationship resulting in sizable profit margins for some time.

Why should I consider sourcing in China?

Labor and overhead costs are significantly lower in China and Asia than in the US. World class quality is available from many low cost suppliers in China. Solid quality systems and management principals have almost nothing to do with the prevailing wages in China where employers can be very selective and hire only the best workers.

Why use Level Infinity Group instead of going directly to China on my own to establish sourcing and procurement?

A typical US small to medium sized business would spend a lot more money and probably achieve a lot less desirable result sourcing in China on their own. If one is to be successful in doing business in China, one should weigh the risks vs. the benefits. You can be assured your competitors are actively working to reduce cost and increase margins. Your biggest risk is that they beat you to the draw with Asian suppliers. The costs available in China are simply not available in the US. The long-term benefits far exceed any initial risks.

Can Level Infinity Group handle all the details for making my project a success - or do I need to contact other sources to complete my company’s objectives?

Level Infinity Group not only has the management teams in place to accomplish your company’s objectives, but we have the key relationships, industry licensing, distribution channels, and logistical processes in place to complete your objectives in their entirety and get them done right. Some international consulting companies rely on alliances and agents to fully complete the projects they have with their clients.
